The second edition of the highly anticipated Strawberry Festival kicked off at Darechikgre in Tura, but experienced an abrupt halt due to torrential rain and hailstorm shortly after its inauguration on Friday afternoon.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday attended the strawberry festival held at Khyndailad located at the heart of the city and said that the taste of strawberry grown in Meghalaya is of ‘world class’.
The Directorate of Horticulture has undertaken large-scale plantation of strawberries under various central and state programmes aiming to promote strawberry production on a larger scale to uplift the local farmers.
