Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapnil Paul on Thursday said that the demise of 11 individuals at Tongona tea estate was not due to cholera. They died due to the consumption of illicit liquor and other diseases.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, Minister Sonowal communicated directly with the Chief Secretary of the Government of Assam, Ravi Kota, and the District Commissioner of Tinsukia, Swapnil Pal, to assess the situation and directed the officials to provide immediate assistance.
