Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday informed that the peace accords with ULFA incorporates the main principles of delimitation exercise of assemblies and parliamentary constituencies done this year will also remain in future and a voter before changing his constituencies has to fulfil several conditions.
Terming the historic peace agreement with the ULFA as a moment of socio-economic optimism for Assam, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal has welcomed the development. “Peace with ULFA reaffirms ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ for a resurgent, peaceful & vibrant Assam,” hailed Sonowal here on Friday.
Tripartite Memorandum of Settlement was signed among United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) Pro-Talks Faction, Government of Assam, and Government of India.
Top leaders of ULFA’s pro talks faction, including its chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and general secretary Anup Chetia, will be present during the tripartite peace accord signing along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and host of other officials in Delhi.
An initiative has been launched in the state to connect with family members of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) cadres and help them bring their wards back into the mainstream.
