Meghalaya’s exemplary contribution to sustainable tourism took centre stage at the World Tourism Day 2024 celebrations held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Friday as Umden and Mawphlang villages were declared winners in the prestigious ‘National Best Tourism Village Competition’, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Appealing to Bindas Syiem to call off her hunger strike protest, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Monday assured that the state government will take up with Centre for immediate sanctioning of over Rs 100 crore for reconstruction and widening of 20 km of road from Nongpoh up to Umden and for construction of 39 kms of road from Umden up to Lum-nongrim.
A mother of three children on Thursday began her indefinite hunger strike in front of the Secretariat demanding immediate construction of the Nongpoh-Umden-Sonapur road.
