According to the notification there will be complete traffic closure for minimum six hours on 31st March from 8.a.m to 2 pm. Only ambulance will be allowed to ply through the bridge.
Mondal said (L) Muktieh was not an employee of MeECL but he was working as security guard with the construction firm, ITD Cementation India Limited, which is entrusted for the dam rehabilitation and improvement work of the Umiam Stage I dam which is under progress.
The repair and construction of Umiam Bridge have kept traffic at a standstill for hours, which has led to the hardship of the vehicles passing through the bridge on Wednesday.
