BJP leader and legislator from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai on Thursday said the party is willing to give ‘red carpet welcome’ to former chief minister and AITC leader Mukul Sangma and Congress MP Vincent H Pala if they are ready to join its fold.
He said cement factories are producing almost 17 million tonnes which means 3300 tons per day. This means almost 50 lakh tons (of cement) are being carried from Jaintia Hills to the rest of the country. Therefore, it is not possible to maintain the road and traffic in the future.

Kharkrang in a statement said that it is common knowledge that Congress is a sinking ship in Meghalaya in particular and across the country in general, whose fate of doom can be saved by none.
“We will be very happy if we can manage to dictate (to the NPP to sever its ties with the BJP). Minus the BJP, we are ready to support and work together (with the NPP in the state), there is no doubt about it,” Pala said.
