Tech devices found in Assam jail cell of Khalistani sympathiser Amritpal Singh

Dibrugarh, Feb 18: A major security breach in Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail’s National Security Act cell was detected on Saturday, where the Khalistani sympathiser and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh was lodged.

The staff of Dibrugarh Central Jail recovered a smartphone with SIM, a keypad phone, a TV remote with keyboard, a spy cam pen, pen drives, Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and a smartwatch during a search operation.

According to Assam’s Director General of Police, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, additional CCTV cameras were installed in the public area of the NSA block after reports of unauthorised activities taking place in the NSA cell was detected.

DGP Singh added that the source of these unauthorised articles and mode of their induction is still being ascertained and further lawful action and steps are being taken to prevent recurrence of such activities.

It needs to be mentioned that Amritpal Singh was arrested by Punjab Police under the NSA in April 2023 and transported to Assam along with nine other associates, all booked under NSA, were arrested and kept in Dibrugarh jail since that time.
