Tura, Jan 11: The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, issued a public notice on Thursday regarding the upcoming visit of the President of India to WGH from the fifteenth to sixteenth of January 2024.
The notice informed the public about a temporary ban on roadside parking along designated routes within the district, effective from 6 am on January 15th until 12 pm the next day.
This precautionary measure aims to facilitate smooth traffic flow and enhance security during the President’s visit.
The notice also requested the cooperation of everyone to ensure the President’s visit is successful and proceeds without any disruptions.
It must be noted that this is for the first time that the 5th session of Meghalaya Games is being held in Tura.
The torch relay for the 5th Meghalaya Games was officially launched by the State Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri, at the SSA Stadium in Shillong on Tuesday. The grand inauguration scheduled for January 15 in Tura, will be graced by the presence of President Droupadi Murmu.
