Shillong, Oct 21: A one of its kind event, the Autumn Flower Show, which was held for three days concluded on Friday at the All Saints Hall, Shillong. The flower show is an annual event organised by the Shillong Agri-Horticultural Society.
The show displayed a wide variety of exotic flowers to botany enthusiasts. Meghalaya’s topography transforms into a vibrant setting in the months of October and November when flowers blossom to their actual beauty. According to the organiser, the annual event is meant to encourage businesses in horticulture and inspire people to go for floriculture and beautify the state and landscape of Shillong and its suburbs.
Specifically, the show is an exhibition of different varieties of decorative flowers. The exhibition is known for its rare floral collection and the numerous ranges of plants were displayed here. Sunflowers, fire bush trees, different types of hibiscus, zinnias, crepe myrtle, lotus and other beautiful flowers were on display at the flower exhibition.
The natives of Meghalaya along with nature and flower lovers from all over India come to the State during the months of October and November to witness this grand spectacle of flora.
Although over the years many such shows are organised in different parts of the country, yet the Autumn Flower Show of Meghalaya holds an important place for its distinct and unique character.
