Guwahati, May 4: In a joint operation, the Assam Rifles and Sonari Police arrested three linkmen of the banned militant outfit ULFA (I) from Kanubari in Arunachal Pradesh bordering Charaideo district in Assam.
The arrested individuals are identified as Sanjay De and his son Sujit De from Sonari, Charaideo (Assam) and Tazawang Konyak from Nakjan Basti, Nagaland.
They were handed over to the Sonari Police by Assam Rifles, for further investigation.
Police sources informed that banned militant outfit ULFA-I is demanding money from tea companies and estates in the locality. The accused linkmen were collecting the money on behalf of the organisation.
