Thunderstrike Cricket Club clinches 1st Kakripara Premier League Title

Guwahati, Feb 10: The first season of the Kakripara Premier League came to an exciting conclusion as Thunderstrike Cricket Club Kakripara defeated Thakuranbari Cricket Club by nine wickets in the final match on Sunday.

The tournament, which saw 24 teams battling for the title ended with a spectacular display of cricketing talent.

Winning the toss, Thunderstrike Cricket Club chose to bowl first, putting Thakuranbari Cricket Club to bat first.

The batting side managed to put up a total of 137/8 in their allotted overs. However, Thunderstrike’s batting lineup made quick work of the target, cruising to victory with nine wickets in hand.

The champions were awarded a cash prize of ₹1,10,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up received ₹50,000 and a trophy.

The final match was graced by several distinguished guests, including former MLA Zabed Islam, who attended as the chief guest. The guest of honour, Chandra Kant Upadhyay, Company Commandant of the 45 BN BSF, Tura, also joined the event, along with special guests Sanjoy Sherpa, Company Commander of Kakripara BOP, Surendar Bist, Company Commander of Mankachar BOP, Radhey Shem, 2YC Kakripara BOP and Ravi Pandey, Inspector (G).

The tournament was organized by Kakripara Youth Club and witnessed an electrifying atmosphere as cricket enthusiasts cheered for their teams. Kakripara is in South Salmara district of Assam, bordering South West Garo Hills district.
