Guwahati, May 7: The President of Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) Ripun Bora on Saturday lashed out at Himanta Biswa Sarma led BJP government for giving extra financial burden to the people of the State.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Ripun Bora said, “On May 10, the Himanta Biswa Sarma led BJP is celebrating their one year in Assam. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is coming to the programme. The celebration is to highlight the success of the government in last one year but in last one year the government has not achieved anything,”.

“The BJP government under Himanta Biswa Sarma has recorded the lowest per capita income in the entire country. Tripura has a better per capita income in comparison to Assam. Due to mismanagement and inefficiency of the BJP government, the per capita income of Assam is the lowest as recorded. The government has failed in every aspect but now they are going to celebrate. What is there to celebrate?” questioned Bora.

He further said, “Under BJP rule, Assam has taken a debt burden of Rs 1 lakh 24,000 crore. Now, the people have to face economic crisis due to debt burden,”.

The Assam TMC Chief said, “In the last one year, the Himanta Biswa Sarma led BJP has brought the state in debt. The contractors are denying to work because Rs 17,0000 crore bills of the contractors are lying pending.”

He further added, “Due to abolition of ‘Special category status’ we Assam have lost Rs 9,000 crore every year since 2015. But the government doesn’t have any economic plan to compensate the economic damage. Therefore, we apprehend that Assam will face a economic disaster very soon and their is no justification in celebrating one year.”
