Agartala, Jan 2: The onset of 2024 witnessed a series of unfortunate road accidents in different parts of Tripura, resulting in three fatalities and six injuries. According to officials, all six mishaps involved two-wheelers and occurred in South Tripura and Gomati districts.

A senior Tripura Police official reported that the incidents transpired during the last hours of 2023 and continued into the first day of the new year. One of the accidents claimed the lives of Ramesh Tripura, 18, and Bimal Tripura, 30, in a late-night incident at Baikhora in South Tripura on December 31. Another fatality, Partha Saha, 34, occurred in a road mishap near the Matabari bypass in Gomati district.

Despite these tragedies, no major crimes have been reported across the state at the beginning of the new year, according to an unnamed police official.
