Agartala, Mar 31: One person was killed in Tripura’s Gomati district after lightning strike him followed by a heavy storm.
The deceased has been identified as Shyamal Debnath(48), was struck by a lightning while collecting latex in a rubber garden.
According to reports, he was immediately rushed to Gomati district hospital but the doctors declared him brought dead.
“The storm wreaked havoc across various parts of Tripura, causing disruptions in electricity services. The impact was particularly severe in the capital city of Agartala, where electric poles and wires were damaged by fallen trees. Some party of the terminal building of the MBB airport in Agartala has also been damaged,” an official said.
The electricity department has initiated restoration efforts, working diligently to address the widespread disruptions and restore power to affected areas.
“Some person have brought a person to our hospital who was struck by lightning. When we examined, it was found that the person was already dead. We immediately informed the police,” said a doctor at Udaipur district hospital.
