Agartala, Dec 14: In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old girl was found hanging at her hostel room in Suparibagan in Agartala on Wednesday.

The deceased was a student of Bijoykumar Higher Secondary School in Agartala city and used to stay at state government-run Anangamohini ST Girls Hostel in the city.

The body was first spotted by one of her roommates at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday night and informed other hostel inmates and the hostel in-charge, who later called up officials at the West Agartala Women Police Station.

“Post-mortem is going on. We are yet to know why she hanged herself. We can say something after getting the post-mortem report,” a police official said.

Tripura Tribal Welfare minister Bikash Debbarma visited the hostel to take stock of the situation and assured that the matter is being taken up for proper investigation.
