Tripura: BJP put in awkward spot with party MLA claiming “no democracy in Tripura”, hits out at ‘paratrooper leader’

Agartala, Nov 23: Just two days before the civic polls of Tripura, former Health Minister in Biplab Kumar Deb government and BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman has put his own party in an awkward position by openly declaring that there is “no democracy in Tripura” and urged people to rise against the “undeclared war against the ongoing hooliganism in the state and by exercising their right to franchise”.

Addressing a press conference in the MLA hostel here on Tuesday along with another BJP MLA Asish Saha, Roy Barman urged people of the state to revolt against the threats of the so called ruling party goons by participating in large numbers in the coming civic polls.

Without naming the state Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Roy Barman alleged that, “A parachutist leader for his personal agenda and to reveal his popularity among the BJP central leadership is using the CPI-M turned BJP goons for turning  election, which once was celebrated like a festival in Tripura, into a fight zone of negativity where people are being threatened not to go for casting their vote and there has been large scale violence across the state against that section of people who once took life risk and had spent their money to remove the Communist and bring BJP to power in Tripura.”

“Instead of fighting the poll on issues like development, personal attacks and character assassinations are going on. It says that the paratrooper leader is mentally perverted,” he added.

He went on to add that, “thousands and lakhs of BJP karyakartas today are of the view that these hooligans are earning bad names for our BJP and the national leaders. But the small section of paratrooper leaders, who are running our party, are childish and have failed to identify our main political opponent.”

“If today some out of anger or self esteem leave BJP and join some other party then we should try to convince and bring them back to our party but instead of that we are physically assaulting them and further distancing them,” said Roy Barman, the five time MLA from the Agartala constituency, adding, “The childish paratroop leaders have failed to understand that and when they realize it then it will be too late for them.”

He said that neither the BJP party or its leadership has instructed anyone to create violence, arson, shed people’s blood or shoot someone and a section who are engaging in all these in Tripura are earning a bad name for the BJP party as a whole and also Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The MLA alleged that there is no law and order in the state and police has totally failed to provide security to people and properties.

Roy Barman further claimed that the administration is not under the control of the so called parachutist leaders rather under the blue-eyed boys of the Communists who are at the helm of administration and police and they conspire against the BJP party for further strengthening the public anger and anti incumbency so that Left can return back to power.

“I appeal today to all the people of the state that it is an undeclared war between the hooligans and the common people. A coward dies many times before death and I know the people of my state are not cowards. I believe that as during earlier days people participated in voting like a festival despite all threats and fear, a culture which was adopted during the tenure of the Left Front and is still continuing but with further emphasis, you all shall come to cast your vote. It is your right.”

“Once the police have miserably failed to protect the lives and properties, now I urge the common people to resist those evil forces who are not BJP fellows and in disguise they are playing a foul game, they are trying to help the Communists have its foot once again in Tripura. I appeal to the people and the clubs to resist and don’t be scared and come out  and resist and establish your rights. It is your right to exercise your franchise and nobody can snatch it under any threat.”

The BJP MLA also questioned why the Home Minister of Tripura has not made it public about the steps taken to stop or a single statement against the ongoing hooliganism in state.

Targetting CM Biplab Kumar Deb, who is also the Home Minister, Roy Barman said: “What does the Home Minister think of himself. Now the time is passing fine but coming days shall be very dangerous. His days are numbered I can tell you his days are numbered.”

Roy Barman claimed that he is into politics for the people and is speaking against the injustice for the countless BJP karyakartas who do not have the guts to speak up.

He informed that only two day back he has apprised the BJP national president JP Nadda, national general secretary BL Santosh, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the chairman of NEDA about the affairs of Tripura.
