Agartala, Feb 17: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday alleged that Congress and CPI-M tried to instigate BJP workers to create a nuisance during the polling hours on February 16.

Talking to reporters, Saha said after the formation of their government in Tripura a change has been prevailing in the state, which was seen in the elections.

“In the history of Tripura, this was the first election held without violence and rigging. It was a peaceful election in the last 35 years of Congress and CPI-M rule. They tried to instigate the BJP workers but the election passed off peacefully without any incidence,” Sarkar stated.

Sarkar further said, “BJP will form government again and I am confident of winning. In the last 2018 election, we won 36 seats, and in this election, our party will bag more than 36 seats. We have also given five seats to our alliance partner IPFT and hoping for the best.”

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday said polling across 60 constituencies of Tripura concluded with 92 percent voter turnout. The votes will be counted and results declared on March 2.
