Agartala, March 15: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Friday felicitated noted screenwriter Biplab Goswami, who recently won the Best Story (Original) Award in the Popular Category at the 25th IIFA Awards for the film ‘Laapata Ladies’.
Goswami was felicitated during a program at the Tripura Film & Television Institute (TFTI) at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala.
Tripura chief minister Manik Saha highlighted Goswami’s achievement as an inspiration for aspiring filmmakers from Tripura. “With determination and hard work, people can achieve their dreams. Biplab, who hails from Tripura, is a living example of this,” Saha stated.
He also emphasized the role of TFTI, established by the state government, in nurturing local talent for careers in the film and television industry.
Saha said that the institute should not only achieve self-sufficiency but also emerge as a leading center of excellence in the region.
He expressed hope that industry professionals like Goswami would contribute to the growth of the institute and inspire young filmmakers.
“Offering vast opportunities beyond conventional fields like medicine, engineering, and accountancy, this initiative will open new career opportunities for the youth in filmmaking, scriptwriting, acting, and technical fields, which were not available in the state until a few years ago,” Biplab Goswami said.
He said the global entertainment industry is expanding rapidly, and the presence of a film and television institute in Tripura marks a significant step forward.
