Agartala, April 21: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed concerns over the frequent elections held throughout the year, stating that they hinder development, waste financial resources, and disrupt normal life.
Speaking at a discussion on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ (ONOE) initiative, Saha emphasized that the implementation of ONOE would allow voters to exercise their democratic rights effectively.

“To make the democratic process more citizen-friendly and development-oriented, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the ONOE Bill in Parliament,” said Saha.

He further pointed out, “If ONOE is implemented, voters will be able to exercise their rights properly. During regular elections, development work is hampered, and education is also affected as a significant portion of manpower is diverted from the education department. We must support this initiative.”
Highlighting PM Modi’s decisive leadership, Saha recalled the government’s action on the Triple Talaq issue, saying, “While there were many ‘crocodile tears’ criticizing the decision, PM Modi took a bold step and scrapped Triple Talaq.”
