Tripura CM Manik Saha announces major boost in school infrastructure

Agartala, April 23: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reaffirmed the BJP-led government’s commitment to delivering quality education and improving school infrastructure across the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new building of Amtali Higher Secondary School, Saha revealed that infrastructure development is planned for 123 schools.

Additionally, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated new buildings for five other Higher Secondary Schools in West Tripura, built for Rs 27.38 crore.

Saha announced that vacancies for both teaching and non-teaching staff will be filled to ensure the effective functioning of schools. He further shared that 455 schools have been equipped with vending machines for sanitary napkins, with an expenditure of over Rs 1.31 crore to support the health and hygiene of female students.

Looking ahead, Saha stated that 30 new schools will be established in the 2025–26 financial year. Of the 123 schools slated for infrastructure upgrades, 67 fall under secondary education and 56 under elementary education.

He also highlighted the success of the Rani Laxmibai Self Defence Training Program, which has trained 1.42 lakh female students across 2,058 schools in self-defence techniques.
