Agartala, Aug 23: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha inspected flood-affected areas in Gomati and South Tripura through aerial-survey on Friday.
Taking to X, CM Manik Saha said, “Heading to Gomati District and South Tripura to inspect flood-affected areas. We are committed for providing aid and support to those in need.”

“Air dropping of essential food items is currently being carried out using MI-17 helicopters for the severely affected people in Amarpur and Karbook under Gomati district,” Saha said.
Tripura government on Thursday said the state was witnessing an unprecedented flood situation as over 17 lakh people remained affected. Death toll due to flood and landslides since Monday increased to 12.
“Our government is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every citizen. We are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to manage the situation and support those in need,” CM Manik Saha said.
Saha has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to the families of flood victims and called for public cooperation in ongoing relief efforts.
Two MI-17 helicopters rushed by the Centre on Thursday carried out recce for airlifting of the stranded persons and transported the NDRF personnel and food items in Amarpur.
Four additional teams of NDRF personnel (120 personnel) were airlifted from Arunachal Pradesh and were immediately rushed for rescue operations in the worst affected Gomati, West Tripura and Sepahijala districts. Four NDRF teams (100 personnel) were already deployed for rescue operations in South Tripura, West Tripura, Unakoti and Khowai district.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday spoke to Tripura CM Manik Saha and enquired about the flood situation and assured him of full assistance from the Centre.
