Must read

Agartala, June 15: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha has written a letter to the Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan requesting him to increase the number of centres for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in the state.

In the letter, the Chief Minister has conveyed his gratitude for devising the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the Post Graduate aspirants in the country as this initiative will definitely bring more transparency in the process.

“However, it is felt that the number of allotted examination centres by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in connection to the CUET for the State of Tripura is inadequate. There are about 6,000 aspirants in the State, but only 3 centres have been allotted. Due to this, majority of the aspirants are forced to travel outside the State to attempt the examination,” the letter stated.

He further said that in view of this, the State has already requested the Department of Higher Education from the Ministry of Education to increase the number of centres in the State for the CUET aspirants, considering their socio-economic condition and the geographical bottleneck faced by the State.

He added that it is to be mentioned here that adequate number of centres with sufficient infrastructure is available in the State to arrange such type of competitive examinations. Many examination centres of the State are being utilized for conducting other national level examinations.
