Agartala, Aug 13: The students and Doctors of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital on Tuesday staged protest against alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old second-year postgraduate student cum trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
Holding posters and banners, the students and doctors demanded justice for the victim.
“We demand a thorough investigation and the resignation of the officials involved in the incident,” said a protester.
The incident has sparked outrage across the medical community, with the Agartala doctors and students joining their peers in West Bengal to demand justice.
Talking to reporters, representatives from AGMC and GB Pant Hospital expressed their deep concern over the incident. “This tragic event involving a female resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College has shocked the entire medical fraternity,” said one of the protesters.
The incident has highlighted concerns about safety and accountability within the medical community, and the protesters are determined to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
“We have gathered here to demand a transparent investigation into this case and to call for the resignation of the officials responsible,” said another protester.
