Agartala, Mar 9: Tripura police apprehended four Rohingyas, including two minors in the Rajbari area of Dharmanagar town in North Tripura on Friday.
According to police, the Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura from Bangladesh.
The detainees were identified as Mohammad Arab (22), Samia (20), Ismat Ara (17), and Isha (15), hailing from a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Police said during interrogation, they disclosed their intention to travel to Hyderabad in search of employment, where they have relatives.
“Two of the detainees were remanded to jail custody, the two minor individuals were transferred to a juvenile home,” said police.
A case has been registered against them for illegal entry into Indian territory, and they were presented before the court.
Rohingya are a predominantly Muslim ethnic minority who have lived in Myanmar for 100 of years but after the ethnic-violence in Myanmar they fled towards Bangladesh and Indian side.
