Agartala, Dec 3: In response to reported atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, the All Tripura Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association (ATHROA) has decided to deny accommodation and services to Bangladeshi nationals.
At a meeting on Monday night, ATHROA leaders discussed the situation and unanimously agreed to take this stand.
General Secretary Saikat Bandyopadhyay stated, “We cannot remain silent over the atrocities on Hindus and the damage to their properties in Bangladesh. After a detailed discussion, we have decided not to provide any accommodation and services to Bangladeshi nationals visiting the state.”
This decision follows a similar move by a leading private hospital in Agartala last week, which suspended services for Bangladeshi patients. The hospital’s Chief Operating Officer announced the closure of its Bangladesh desk, citing respect for the protesters’ sentiments and the decline in Bangladeshi patients since the unrest began.
“As an Indian, I respect and support the sentiments raised by the protesters. Given the ongoing incidents in Bangladesh, we have decided to suspend services for Bangladeshi patients,” he said.
Both decisions reflect rising tensions and growing local protests over the reported persecution of Hindus and disrespect towards the Indian national flag in Bangladesh.
