Agartala, Nov 21: The Tripura government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tata Technologies Ltd to upgrade 19 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said after intense discussions, the state government finalized the MoA with Tata Technologies to modernize the ITIs under the Industries and Commerce department. “This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for enhancing skill development” he said.
The Chief Minister noted that the existing ITIs have been offering outdated courses with limited job opportunities, leaving graduates struggling to secure employment.
“Under the upgradation plan, the ITIs will introduce new courses with high demand both in India and abroad. Additionally, Tata Technologies will absorb ITI graduates in the future, addressing its need for skilled manpower,” Saha added.
The project, with a total budget of Rs 683.27 crore, will see Tata Technologies contributing 86% of the funding, while the state government will bear the remaining 14%. Separately, the state will invest Rs 107 crore to enhance infrastructure in the existing ITIs.
The modernization initiative is set to be implemented over five years.
