Tripura polls: Amidst tight security polling for Tripura Assembly begins

Agartala, Feb 16: Amidst tight security, casting of votes for the 60-member Tripura assembly began on Thursday morning from 7 am with malfunction in some EVMs.

Among 259 candidates 28 are from All Indian Trinamool Congress, 55 from BJP, 13 from Congress, 6 from IPFT, Tipra Motha fielded 42 candidates, 43 from CPI (M), 1 each from CPI, CPI (M)L, AIFB, TSP, RSP, 7 from other unrecognised parties and 58 others from Independent parties.

People came out from their houses to cast votes and most of them were waiting in the queue to cast their vote at their respective polling stations.

Altogether, 3,337 polling stations have been set up across the state.

A total of 28.13 lakh voters including 13.53 lakh women will decide the fate of the candidates.
