Tripura Ulta Rath Tragedy: CM Manik Saha inspects Kumarghat incident site, meets injured in hospital

Tripura, June 29: Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha inspected the place of occurrence at Kumarghat where the fire tragedy during Ulta Rath occurred claiming seven lives including two children & leaving 16 devotees injured on Wednesday.

Saha met the injured persons who are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals & inquired about their health condition.

Tripura government has decided to provide ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased & Rs. 2.5 lakh for those suffered severe (above 60%) injuries & Rs. 74,000 for those who have been partially (40-60%) injured.

CM also passed an instruction for conducting a probe into the incident by a committee headed by District Magistrate and submit the report.

Saha also expressed his heartfelt thanks & gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring Rs. 2 Lakh for the deceased from PMNRF and Rs 50,000 for the injured persons.

PM Modi also paid his condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this mishap. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected.

On Wednesday seven people died of electrocution and several others were injured as a Rath or ceremonial chariot of Lord Jagannath came in contact with a high-tension wire in the Kumarghat area of Unakoti district on Wednesday, police said.
