TURA, July 28: A driver of a school vehicle that ferries children in Tura has become the latest person to be arrested for attacking police and civilians during the mob violence outside CM mini secretariat on Monday evening.
Rakmen G Momin, who was entrusted by parents to safely take their children to and fro Tura Public School in his private red Maruti car was arrested by police on Thursday for his complicity in the attacks.
He was caught on video flinging chairs towards police lines outside the mini secretariat just as tensions began to build up by a section of the crowd that began targeting the authorities and even the ACHIK organization leaders who had been invited for talks with chief minister Conrad K Sangma over their demand for winter capital in Garo Hills.
The accused driver had gone absconding after his face surfaced on multiple social media platforms highlighting his activities, but was later nabbed by police.
With his arrest the total number in police custody has risen to 46, including 7 women.
