Tura Bishop in hospital with pneumonia

TURA, Sept 29: The head of the Catholic Church in Garo Hills, Bishop Andrew R Marak, has been admitted to the Holy Cross Hospital in Tura with a chest infection on Thursday.

“He is having pneumonia and admitted in Holy Cross for medical treatment. Doctors have said it is not serious and that he is improving. We are all praying for his speedy recovery,” informed Father Lyngdoh Tegite, youth director and Parish Priest of St. Luke’s Church that is part of Holy Cross Hospital in Walbakgre, Tura.

The 63 year old Bishop Andrew has been leading the Catholic Church in Garo Hills for close to two decades. He took over from Bishop George Mamalassary.

In recent years he has fought of  ailments including a covid infection that struck him during the pandemic.
