Tura, Dec 5: The semi-finals of the exciting Tura Champions Trophy concluded on Tuesday with Greenwood Darenggre comprehensively defeating Druma Sandruma by a scoreline of 3-1 in the 2nd semi-final.
The high-intensity match, played at the GBHSS Artificial Football Turf in Tura’s Chandmari, witnessed both teams go full guns blazing from the get-go but it was Greenwood Darenggre who manged to fire in two goals before the half time, putting significant pressure on Druma Sandruma.
It was probably the fierce play coupled with impeccable passes from Greenwood Darenggre that caught Druma Sandruma off-guard in the first half that saw them concede two goals but they were lot more prepared and determined in the second half. With their guards up and heightened play, they found the back of the net once but then so did Greenwood Darenggre, who were relentless in their attacks.
If Druma Sandruma had found the same amount of energy, coordination and purpose as they did in the second half, the match could have gone into penalty shootout but the goal difference from the first half was ultimately something they couldn’t overcome.
As the final whistle of the match rang, the scoreline read 3 – 1; 3 in favour of Greenwood Darenggre and 1 in favour of Druma Sandruma.
Greenwood Darenggre have now progressed into the finals where they will face the Selsella SA at the same venue.
Robert Khongjoh of Greenwood Darenggre team was adjudged as the player of Tuesday’s semi-final match.
