Tura Christian Hospital holds mini marathon to raise awareness on kidney health

Tura, March 15: Demonstrating community spirit and a focus on health, the Tura Christian Hospital (TCH) organized a mini marathon run for World Kidney Day early on Saturday, drawing participation from approximately 400 individuals.

The event, aimed at spreading crucial awareness about kidney health, saw enthusiastic runners of all ages take to the streets of Tura.

The marathon, flagged off by National Peopleโ€™s Youth Front (NPYF) national secretary Dabo M Marak, commenced from Chandmari playground early at 6 AM. The route was approximately 5km that traversed a significant portion of Tura.

The runners embarked on their journey from Chandmari playground, proceeding towards Ringrey, followed by a turnaround at the MCH hospital and from there, the route continued to the AOC petrol pump, then onto Tetengkol junction.

The marathon then looped back towards the starting point in Chandmari, via Jerusalem, AOC petrol pump and then Ringrey, thus completing a comprehensive circuit.

The event received support from the district administration, district sports office and the members of Morning FC, a local football club in Tura. Tribal Nation Riders also provided their assistant in successfully conducting the run.

Marathon winners were announced in four categories: under 13 boys, under 13 girls, over 13 males, and over 13 females. Each category awarded โ‚น4000, โ‚น3000, and โ‚น2000, respectively, along with certificates, to the top three finishers.

Along with Dabo Marak, the event was also graced by Dr. Editha W Momin, superintendent, TCH; Dr. Benjamin S Sangma, DM Nephrology; Cassius Clay A Sangma, president, Morning FC and Jack Marak, president, Tribal Nation Riders, where they distributed prizes to the winners.
