Tura, June 22: The First Division match of the Tura Football League on Friday saw a flurry of goals as A.Balmikka GSC finally came out on top against an equally impressive Galmak FC with a scoreline of 6-4. A.Balmikka GSC rode on the back of its ace striker Tengrik R. Marak, who fired in 5 of the 6 goals his team scored as Chandmari Football Turf hosted yet another exceptional game.
A.Balmikka were quick on their feet from the first whistle and dominated the early stages, with Tengrik R. Marak opening the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by Gribinath M. Sangma doubling the lead in the 12th minute. Tengrik struck again, not once but twice, to extend the lead even further, scoring in the 16th and 26th minutes, respectively.
With four goals to nil in 26th minute, it looked like A.Balmikka had sealed the fate of the game but who would have thought that Galmak FC were just getting warmed up and the real battle was yet to come. Two quick goals by Galmak FC’s Bilseng Sangma (31st & 34th minute) near the half-time mark suddenly had life put back into the game. However, Galmak FC’s celebations were not even over when Tengrik once again found the back of the net in the 36th minute, ending the first half with a scoreline of 5-2.
In the second half, Galmak FC players seemed to have been rejuvenated after a pep talk by their manager during the break and maintained ball possession during the initial minutes of the second half. Their efforts paid off when Nikrang Achura Marak scored a goal in the 46th minute, followed by Bilseng Sangma again finding the back of the net in the 48th minute mark, closing the gap in the scoreline to 5-4.
However, it was Tengrik again who put his leg forward to stop the momentum of Galmak FC from advancing any further as he scored yet another goal, his fifth of the match, in the 49th minute. From then on, both teams tried hard but could not score any more goals.
As the battle on the pitch heated up, Rikseng M. Marak of A.Balmikka received the cautionary yellow card in the 53rd minute of the game for a foul.
As the final whistle went off, A.Balmikka GSC came out on top with 6 goals as they managed to defend themselves from an ever dangerous looking Galmak FC, who could not go beyond their four goals.
