MFA had instructed DFAs to nominate four coaches from each district affiliated with the association.

Under the guidance of instructor Vikash Panthi, an AIFF Grade A coach from Shillong, participants underwent both theoretical and practical training sessions.

The course offered a comprehensive curriculum, blending classroom learning with hands-on training to ensure that coaches gained a comprehensive understanding of coaching methodologies tailored to young athletes.

To earn the D License, participants are required to pass exams conducted by AIFF, which includes both practical and theoretical components.

Successful candidates will be eligible to train young players, and the D License will be valid for lifetime. Additionally, these coaches can pursue higher certifications such as the C License, B License, A License, and Pro License.

Currently, Garo Hills has approximately 10 D License holders, with Williamnagar having three coaches, Tura – 5, and Resubelpara – 2.

In an exclusive interview with Hub News, Gamcheng R. Marak, General Secretary of DFA, West Garo Hills, said, “We have very few D License coaches as the AIFF exam in Garo Hills is very tough and strict. The practical and theory exams are not easy, and candidates must be very serious about it.”

He further added, “The course itself is tough. Practical sessions start at 6:15 AM and end at 12:30 PM for lunch. Theory classes then commence at 1:45 PM and continue until 7:00 PM. Afterward, participants must prepare for the next day. They have to pay fees of Rs. 10,870 to get into this course.”

Notably, Rangira Marak from Garo Hills is currently pursuing the B License Course in Uttar Pradesh. Upon passing the exam, she will become the first B License holder from Tura.
