Tura, Oct 18: The visitors at the official launch of the celebrations of 50 years of Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) at Tura were treated to a glimpse into the life of Garo community through a live museum.
A host of dignitaries that included Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, and MBOSE officials got a taste of the life in a Garo village through the live museum set up at Green Haven, Walbakgre Tura, West Garo Hills.
The visitors not only took a round of the various activities being performed at the village to gain a deeper understanding of the life in Garo Hills, but also enjoyed a glass of Bitchi – local rice beer.
They also interacted with the members of self-help groups (SHGs) who had set-up stalls showcasing the food and products of Garo Hills.
The visitors were left with such indelible impression that Dy CM Dhar commented, “It feels homely”.
