Tura, May 16: Schools across Tura came together to mark World No Tobacco Day 2025 with energetic rallies and awareness drives aimed at warning people about the dangers of tobacco.
The town-wide rally was organised by the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), with several schools actively taking part. Among them was Nokrek Heights School, which has been a regular supporter of the campaign. This year, 198 students from Classes 6 to 12 marched from the school to Walbakgre Junction, drawing attention with their slogans and placards.
Meanwhile, Nivedita School, Tura, held its own rally and a signature campaign under this year’s theme: “Tobacco: Business of Death.” The event started at 1 PM, covering the busy Tura Bazar area and saw the participation of around 200 students, teachers, and community members.

Speaking to Hub News, Pallabi Saha, Headmistress of the Upper Primary Section, said, “We want to make Nivedita a tobacco-free school, spread awareness, and involve more people in creating a healthier, tobacco-free future for our children.”
With strong student participation and public engagement, the message rang loud and clear: Tura is stepping up for a tobacco-free tomorrow.
