SHILLONG, Feb 20: The Meghalaya Government has sanctioned Rs 338 crore for Tura Smart Town, while an amount of Rs 79 crore has been sanctioned for Jowai town.
In response to a query from Nongstoin MLA Gabriel Wahlang, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the two Smart Towns are Tura and Jowai.
The Chief Minister also informed that the total amount sanctioned for Tura Town is Rs 338.152 crore, while for Jowai, the amount is Rs 79.8 crore.
Raising supplementaries, Gabriel Wahlang asked the Chief Minister to include Nongstoin under the Smart Town project.
Conrad Sangma said that the government desires to include all district headquarters under the Smart Town initiative, and it will be done in a phased manner, although there are no immediate plans for the same.
