Tura, Feb 21: A sudden downpour during the night turned into a nightmare for loaded truckers commuting from the under-construction National Highway near Tura.
This National Highway links Guwahati and Williamnagar. The rains created slush due to which heavy trucks either drove very slow or some had minor incidents.
In the midst of this chaos, a 14-wheeler truck attempting to cross near the ISBT area was lodged in the mud during the early hours, which further rise traffic halt. Commuters met with traffic snarls on both sides of the obstruction.
The Tura traffic police dispatched a team to clear the congestion and restore normalcy to the affected route.
Most commuters took to an alternate route via villages nearby but due to a small road another jam was seen there too.
