Tura, July 26: In order to apprehend those responsible for instigating the unrest in Tura town on Monday evening, especially the attack on the CM’s Mini Secretariat at Dakopgre when Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma was holding a peaceful meeting with pressure groups, NGOs and other civil bodies inside the building, the West Garo Hills district administration has announced cash rewards to anyone providing significant information that would lead to arrest of the perpetrators of the violence.
The administration has announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for any person who provides crucial information to the Magistrates or Police officials that leads to the arrest of key instigators or aids the district administration in their apprehension. The identity of the person giving the information will be kept secret.
West Garo Hills Police have, so far, made 21 arrests, including top leaders like TMC’s youth leader Richard Marak and two Mahila Morcha leaders of BJP for being part of the conspiracy to carry out attack on the Chief Minister.
“The administration will continue to nab such miscreants who have used terror for narrow political gains. Some such miscreants have been identified and are on the run from the law,” the district administration said in its social media post where it also shared phone numbers of district magistrates and police officials on which information can be provided.
The district administration also called upon the citizens to contribute towards state building and maintaining law and order in the town.
“Your contribution will go a long way to bring development to the district and the town. These next 24 hrs are crucial,” it added.
It is to be mentioned that the West Garo Hills district administration has clamped night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM in Tura for an unspecified amount of time.
