Tura, Dec 16: The Under-18 teams of Chipakkore FC and Rongkhon Sporting are gearing up to face off in the Tura Youth League 2024 final match scheduled for December 18 at the Chandmari Football Turf in Tura.

Both teams secured their spots in the final with decisive wins in the semifinals held on Monday. Organized by the District Football Association (DFA), the tournament aims to engage young talent under 18 years of age, with participation from eight teams across the district.

The primary goal is to identify skilled players who can represent West Garo Hills in future competitions, including the Meghalaya Games 2025.

The tournament follows a 70-minute match format, with a 10-minute halftime break.

In the first semifinal, Chipakkore FC delivered a commanding 6-1 victory over West Balalgre Club. Demonstrating superior ball possession and tactical play, Chipakkore capitalised on their chances, while West Balalgre struggled to convert their opportunities.

The second semifinal was a nail-biting contest between Rongkhon Sporting and Danakgre YSCA. Locked at 1-1 by halftime, neither team managed to break the deadlock in regular time, leading to a penalty shootout. However, Rongkhon Sporting emerged victorious with a 6-5 win in the high-pressure tiebreaker.
