Tura, Oct 4: The College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Tura, Meghalaya, celebrated their 20th Foundation Day at the District Auditorium, Tura, on Wednesday.
The Foundation Day celebration started at 10 a.m.
The event was graced by Dolrich B. G. Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Project Director, DRDA, West Garo Hills, as the chief guest, and the guests of honour were Dr. Rita Singh Raghuvanshi, Former Dean, CCS, CAU (I), Tura, and Dr. Krishna Sheela, Former Dean, CSS, CAU (I), Tura. The event was convened by Dr. Jyoti V. Vastrad, Dean, CSS, CAU (I), Tura.
The programme started with a prayer song and inauguration, followed by a welcome & brief overview of college achievements by Dr. Jyoti V. Vastrad, Dean CCS, CAU(I), Tura, a speech by Guest of Honour Dr. Rita Singh Raghuvanshi, and a speech by Guest of Honour Dr. Krishna Sheela.
During the event, publications were also released, certificates were distributed to faculty & staff for their achievements, and prizes were distributed to the winners of the college week they recently had.
Chief guest Dolrich B. G. Momin also spoke at the event. There were also a variety of cultural programs by the students and performances by some local artists, and the programme ended with a singing of the National Anthem.
Dr. Rita Singh Raghuvanshi, former Dean of CCS, talked in her speech about her time during the initial stage of the college, reminisced about the struggles and excitement of setting up the college through a slideshow of some old pictures from her time, and motivated the students to achieve greatness.
Dr. Krishna Sheela, former Dean of CCS,in her speech also talked about her time at the college as a dean and her involvement in the development of the college of home science.
Dolrichspeech, in his speech thanked the college of community science in uplifting and empowering the women in the rural areas and the community.
