Tura, March 4: The P. A. Sangma Memorial Basketball Tournament 2025 reached a thrilling peak on its fourth day as the semifinals unfolded at Don Bosco College, Tura on Monday.
Two electrifying matchups narrowed the competition from four teams to the final two, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
SYM secured their place in the final with a narrow win over Onyx in the first match, while Sangkni triumphed over G-Force A in the second.
The Onyx vs. SYM clash, a battle between two Shillong-based teams, was an absolute thriller. Onyx initially led by five points, but SYM fought back, equalizing by the end of the fourth quarter. In a tense five-minute overtime, both teams left everything on the court, but SYM edged out Onyx with a dramatic 90-89 victory.
The second semifinal saw a highly anticipated local derby between Tura’s Sangkni and G-Force A. Both teams played with high intensity, matching each other point for point. After a fierce contest, Sangkni emerged victorious with a hard-fought 69-63 win, booking their place in the final.
With the semifinals done, the stage is set for a showdown as Sangkni takes on SYM in the championship match on Tuesday at Don Bosco College, Tura.
