Tura, Dec 26: The Christmas festivities in Tura were marked by a splendid celebration at the police parade ground on Monday, organised by the youth of the community.

A diverse crowd, spanning across all age groups, gathered in large numbers to partake in the merriment. Spirited participants danced in joyful circles around a bonfire, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums and the harmonious melodies of Christmas carols.

The festivities commenced around 6 p.m. and were honored by the presence of Dabo M. Marak, the working president of NPYF.

The financing for this event came directly from the Youth of Tura Society, marking their inaugural organisation of a gathering at the Police Parade Ground. The choice of this venue is deliberate, as it serves as the focal point of Tura town.

The primary goal is to foster inclusivity, welcoming all residents of Tura town, regardless of ethnicity, to partake in the rich Christmas celebration culture of Tura and the Garo Hills region.

Additionally, there are future plans to sustain and expand this program next year, with a commitment to augmenting manpower for an even more extravagant experience.

The Youth of Tura Society, led by President Riprap M. Marak, is a relatively recent organisation established with the core mission of serving the people of Tura town and providing assistance in any way possible.
