Agartala, July 27: The TIPRA Women Federation (TWF), women organisations of the main opposition TIPRA Motha Party, staged a silent protest torch rally in Agartala on Thursday evening.
The rally aimed to condemn the recent incidents in Manipur, particularly the atrocities on two women paraded naked and gang raped that were captured in a viral video.
The protest march, joined by a large number of female supporters and male participants, commenced from Vivekananda Maidan and traversed through the streets of the capital city.
During the rally, the protesters voiced their demand for the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, holding him responsible for the failure to address the ongoing violence that has plagued the state for over two and a half months.
They also questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not taken decisive steps to restore peace in the troubled region.
