Shillong, April 10: Two people were crushed to death when a 12-tyre truck overturned on National Highway-6 in Mawblei, Shillong, in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
According to information, the truck was ferrying fish and bears the Andra Pradesh registration number AP-16TS-9689. The truck was coming from Jowai but upon reaching Mawblei near the Hyundai showroom, it overturned due to brake failure.
The two deceased were helpers of the truck; they were attempting to jump out before it overturned, but unfortunately, they were crushed by the truck. However, the driver escaped and sustained injuries.
Police are taking the bodies of the two victims to Civil Hospital Shillong for necessary procedures.
A huge traffic jam was also reported in the area as police are trying to remove the overturned truck.
