Two dead, four injured in a road mishap in Sikkim

Sikkim, May 18: A family of five travelling to Sikkim from Kolkata met with a road accident in Sang Khola near Singtam in Gangtok District. Among the deceased include one tourist and a driver. The deceased tourist identified as Rabindra Nath Paul was a 72 year old male resident of West Bengal.

The identity of the deceased driver is yet to be ascertained who was travelling in a Sikkim registered taxi vehicle. The deceased have been kept at a mortuary in District Hospital in Singtam.

Among the injured, four persons have been rushed to nearby District Hospital in Singtam for treatment. The injured include one male Papos Paul (33), three females Krishna Paul (36), Mira Paul (60) and a four year old infant.

The accident occurred today morning when the vehicle was travelling from Siliguri to Gangtok. The vehicle plunged into the Rani River at Sang Khola near Singtam town.
