Tura, July 17: One drug peddler and another individual were intercepted at 8th Mile, Upper Damalgre, West Garo Hills, on Sunday. This was done based on a credible source of information.
Upon searching the suspects, the police found 14 suspected YABA tablets and a significant amount of cash in their possession. The arrests were made as part of the ongoing efforts to crack down on drug trafficking in the region.
The drug peddler has been identified as Tobit G. Momin, along with Savio S. Marak, in a Yamaha bike B/R No. AS-01F-7056 from Garobadha, and 14 suspected YABA tablets and Rs. 5020/- cash were recovered from his possession.
The police have stated that Tobit G. Momin and Savio S. MaraMarak were apprehended while riding a Yamaha bike with registration number AS-01F-7056 from Garobadha. In addition to the 14 suspected YABA tablets, they also found Rs. 5020 cash.
The police have taken further action by searching Tobit G. Momin’s house, where they seized 16 Pyeevon Spas Plus capsules and found Rs. 23,000 in cash. As a result, Tobit G. Momin has been arrested along with Savio S. Marak under Section 27 of the IE Act.
A case has also been registered at Araimile PS, and the investigation is on.
The two arrested have been identified as Tobit G. Momin, 40 years old, son of Francis G. Momin, and a resident of Upper Babupara, Tura, WGH; and Savio S. Marak, 48 years old, son of Bainson Ch. Sangma, a resident of Agillangre, WGH.
