Shillong, April 13: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday reaffirmed the government’s decision to relocate of the Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong, as recommended by the High Level Committee.

He said this after meeting with a delegation of Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) on Wednesday and also informed that the next meeting with the Committee will be on April 25.

He also shared that there are 342 households and these are all government employees including the existing ones and those who have been working for a long time.

He further said the government is looking to relocate the residents of Harijan Colony elsewhere if they are not willing to move to the current designated location.

Tynsong also said that he has requested the HPC members to relay the message of the government to the residents of Harijan Colony.

Meanwhile, HPC leader Gurjit Singh said that it was a positive meeting but decision will be made after consulting with the others.
