UDP reaches out to the youth; to raise issues of unemployment, drug menace

Shillong, Dec 23: United Democratic Party (UDP) chief youth organiser Eugeneson Lyngdoh on Friday informed that the youth wing of the party will take up issues like unemployment, drug menace and other prevailing issues.

Lyngdoh, along with several members of the youth wing, briefed media-persons while extending their Christmas greetings to the citizens of the state.

He said that the youth wing wants to focus on issues like rise in drug users, which has ruined families. He added that drug menace is happening even in remote areas too.

“Shillong was known as educational hub in the North East, now we want to gain back that name it once had… We have less youths who clear competitive exams so we want to encourage youths to take up such exams; we will find ways to encourage them…,” mentioned Lyngdoh.

The party youth wing will also focus on Tourism sector and how youths should try to engage in this sector to find employment.

“Urge the youths to support UDP and we appeal (to them) to come forward as youths, we will accept the recommendations on how to help and solve the issues of youths in the state ..” he further stated.
