SHILLONG, MAY 6: The state police has issued an advisory urging people to take alternate routes in view of the ongoing rehabilitation works at Umiam bridge.
“Since the Umiam bridge is under repair and maintenance, long queues of vehicles are observed on either side of the bridge leading to further traffic congestion along the stretch,” East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi said on Monday.
“Hence, in order to ensure smooth, safe passage and to reduce travel time, light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) are advised to take the alternate routes viz VIP Road (Mawroh Tri-jn – Mawtawar Jn – Nongkohlew – Mawsiatkhnam – Shillong Airport, Umroi) and Mawdiangdiang – Diengpasoh Road (Nongmensong – NEIGRIHMS – Tynring – Shillong By-Pass, Diengpasoh),” he said.
